My Approach Person-Centered Allows the client to take more of a lead in discussions so that, in the process, they will discover their own solution. Strengths-Based Focuses on internal strengths and resourcefulness, and less on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. Solution-Focused A strength-based approach to psychotherapy that focuses on solution-building rather than problem-solving. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Focuses on how thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect feelings and actions, and seeks to change those unhelpful patterns. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help with regulating emotion through distress tolerance and mindfulness. Play Therapy Utilizes play, children's natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words. Mindfulness Observe sensations, thoughts, and feelings in order to choose a reaction instead of acting impulsively.
